Just when you thought that you have gotten rid of the pest in the house you realize that you have even pressing problems of bed bugs. Bedbugs have become so common in the recent years and it is becoming even harder to eradicate them. The worst of it all is that people do not exactly know what bed bugs are and even they do not know the bed bugs breeding place for these pests.
What are bed bugs?
This is a parasite that is also referred to scientifically as Cimex lectularius. This pest feeds by a mode known as hematophagy and the most favorable feeding products is the blood of warm blooded animals. Since human beings are warm blooded animals they normally prefer humans as the perfect source of the food. Over the years the parasites have evolved as parasites in the nest of birds and bats, but over time some of them have been able to adapt to living in the human environment. The bed has become the best niche for this parasite and they have adapted so well to handing in it.
The parasites feed on human or their host while they are asleep. In this case, it is very hard for the host to realize that they are being bitten and it will take a long time before one realizes. When the parasite is feeding it usually injects small amounts of saliva into the skin of the host for it to be able to suck the blood. As the blood gets injected into the body their body starts developing some reactions to it until it becomes an allergic reaction. Most people who have been bitten for long will feel a lot of pain like a bite from an insect. In essence, this is the only effect you can get from these bites. The parasites have not been known to spread any disease.
Reproduction of the parasites in the bed bugs breeding place
These parasites reproduce by a process known as traumatic insemination, which is also referred to as hypodermic insemination. Males have a kind of hypodermic genitalia that can pierce any part of the abdomen of the female and inject some sperms into the body. The sperm will circulate in the body until it reaches the ovary. Once they reach there the eggs will be fertilized and be laid. But where do the parasites lay their eggs? There are some of the common grounds where the parasite lay their eggs and these are the breeding grounds.
Common breading grounds
The bed
This is one of the most commonplaces where you can find this parasite hiding. The bed is where the host sleeps and as mentioned they feed when one is asleep. They also use this as the breed place. The ends and the corners of the bed are a very good place where the parasite hides their eggs.
The bed sheets
The favorite place for the parasite to hide their eggs is the fold of the sheets. If you happen to take time to inspect your bed sheets and especially on the folds you will realize that there are whitish deposits. These are actually the eggs of the parasites. This can be common especially if you take a long time to clean your sheets.
Blankets
It is not common for people wash the blankets often. Some even take a whole year to clean the blankets. Unfortunately this can be the paradise for the breeding of bedbugs. Bedbugs use the folds of the blanket to lay and hid their eggs until they grow mature.
Crevices in the wall
Bed bugs are very small and asymmetrical. This gives them an opportunity to hide easily in crevices in the walls. They also use these crevices to lay and hide their eggs. This becomes a very good breeding ground for them.
Pillows
These are the best and unique hiding place for the bedbugs. It is here where they lay their eggs and grow to maturity.
Seats and furniture
The furniture is also a common place to hide where they hide and lay their eggs. The seats and furniture are so good to keep them because it is hard to find them due to the mattress and the crevices to hide.
It is good to understand that these are some of the bedbug breading places and if you are trying to get rid of the parasites consider these places.
